
A Smith’s Grove man is in custody after authorities responded to a fire at the Kroger grocery store on the 31-W Bypass in Bowling Green.
According to the arrest citation, police say 35 year-old Derek Coleman was arrested after he allegedly set two cardboard Halloween displays on fire inside the store and a large stack of hay bales outside the store around 2:30 p.m.
Coleman’s motive for starting the fires is unknown.
Upon a search, police found a meth pipe with residue of methamphetamine inside his pocket.
He is facing the following charges:
First-degree arson
Wanton endangerment
First-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine
Second-degree disorderly conducted
Second-degree criminal mischief
Possession of drug paraphernalia
No injuries were reported as a result of the fires.
Colman is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail without bond.
