A Louisville man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of a woman more than 3½ years ago.
Lamon L. Greene, 45, entered his guilty plea in court Wednesday morning, admitting that he stabbed Melinda Goosby on February 16, 2021.
The stabbing happened in the 4600 block of Southern Parkway. Goosby was able to call 911 and report the stabbing. When Louisville Metro police officers arrived, they found Greene and Goosby inside and apartment. Both had injuries, but Goosby was able to tell police Greene had stabbed her.
Goosby and Greene were both taken to UofL Hospital for treatment. Goosby died from her wounds. The medical examiner said she was stabbed 78 times.
Doctors said the wounds Green sustained to his neck were superficial and all but one appeared to be self-inflicted.
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney says the 30 year sentence is in line with their recommendation.
