The Allen County-Scottsville Drug Task Force observed a reckless driver on Barren River Dam Road.
Detectives found out the vehicle was stolen and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle didn’t immediately stop.
According to the press release, the driver, 25-year-old Matthew D. Thompson of Cave City, eventually stopped the car and fled on foot.
A K-9 unit was deployed to locate him in the heavily wooded area he ran into.
Through an investigation, detectives determined Thompson had gotten a ride back to his residence.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office eventually located him and he was arrested.
Thompson was charged with careless driving, operating on a suspended driver’s license, first-degree fleeing or evading (motor vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading (on foot), first-degree criminal mischief, persistent felony offender, receiving stolen property $1000 <$10,000, and first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer). He is being held in the Barren County Detention Center under a $3,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 23. Source: WBKO
