A former University of Kentucky student caught on camera in a racist attack on a Black student will spend a year in prison.
Sophia Rosing, 23, was sentenced Thursday. She pleaded guilty in August to four counts of fourth-degree assault, one county of disorderly conduct and public intoxication for the November 2022 incident.
Rosing, who is white, was caught on video shouting racial slurs and hitting a Black student employee at a residence hall.
She was arrested that night. She later withdrew from the school and was banned from campus by the university’s president. She is not eligible to re-enroll.
