A Jefferson County Grand Jury has indicted two men on murder and assault charges in connection with a shooting that killed one juvenile and wounded another.
The indictments against 19 year-old Neqwell Beason and 20 year-old Damari Walls-Medlock were returned on October 16.
The men are charged in a June 8, 2024 double shooting that happened on the parking lot of the Thornton’s at Dixie Highway and Hill Street. The gunfire killed 16 year-old Sam Kamara and wounded his 15-year-old brother in the abdomen.
The arrest citation for Walls-Medlock says surveillance video shows the teens were sitting inside a car When Walls-Medlock and another person, now believed to be Beason, approached their car and a fight broke out. The video shows the teens were still inside the car when they were shot.
Beason and Walls-Medlock are scheduled to be arraigned in Jefferson Circuit Court on October 28.
