Kentucky State Police Post 3 responded to the 7,000 block of Scottsville Road in Barren County in reference to a fatal motor vehicle collision around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Preliminary investigation indicates a white 2000 GMC Sierra, operated by 4 year-old Charles Vittitoe of Scottsville, was northbound on Scottsville Road. Vittitoe swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the roadway causing his vehicle to cross the center line into the path of a black 2009 GMC Sierra, operated by 76 year-old Danny Webb of Cave City, which was southbound on Scottsville Road. The 2 vehicles then collided.
Danny Webb was pronounced deceased by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. Vittitoe was transported to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow where he was later transferred to Skyline Medical Center for serious injuries. Sharon Webb, age 71 of Cave City, a passenger in the black 2009 GMC Sierra, was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to TJ Samson Hospital for unknown injuries.
Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, and Multiple Barren County Fire Departments.
This investigation is on going by the Kentucky State Police.
