Consumers and businesses should be vigilant when using or receiving cash. It was recently discovered that counterfeit money is being used in the Scottsville area.
Scottsville Police Department posted on Facebook Sunday that several reports of counterfeit bills being passed recently.
The counterfeit money can be easily observed if it states “For Motion Picture Use Only” and the word “COPY” above the United States Federal Reserve System emblem.
If you or your business receives counterfeit bills, contact the police department. These bills are likely not just within Scottsville but could be in other local areas.
