A Jefferson County jury returned a guilty verdict to a man accused of paralyzing another man in a shooting.
Doshawn Calhoun was found guilty of assault and faces a recommended sentence of 14 years in prison. In 2021, Calhoun was accused of shooting a man in the back, leaving the victim paralyzed. Court documents say Calhoun and the victim knew each other and had been together earlier that day before getting into an argument.
The victim died a year later.
Calhoun is scheduled for a formal sentencing hearing on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
