
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team were requested by the Bowling Green Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on November 6, 2024, around 4:30 a.m. CST.
The preliminary investigation indicates that two Bowling Green Police officers responded to a call for service involving an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.
During the encounter, the individual became combative, attempted to disarm one of the officers and was able to gain control of a weapon, firing it in the direction of the two officers. One of the Bowling Green Police officers fired their agency-issued firearm, striking the individual. The man sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office. Both officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries from apparent gunshot wounds during the incident and were transported to a local hospital where they were both treated and released.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Bowling Green Police Department, Warren County Coroner’s Office and Med-Com EMS.
