An Allen County man has been sentenced to federal prison for tax evasion.
According to court documents, the Internal Revenue Service found 50-year-old John Paul Cates evaded employment taxes due and owing by Trinity Steel Works, LLC, a corporation in Scottsville.
For tax evasion, he was sentenced to one year and three months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Cates was also ordered to pay $811,312.14 in restitution.
There is no parole in the federal system.
