
A Green County man is facing over a decade in prison after a fatal collision left one dead and five injured.
The crash originally occurred in Summersville on June 24, 2023, according to a release. Kentucky State Police investigation found 23 year-old Daniel Sidebottom, of Greensburg, was operating a pick-up truck under the influence of alcohol when he failed to adhere to a stop sign while speeding on KY 323.
Police say he proceeded through an intersection and struck a vehicle traveling on KY 61 on the passenger’s side, leaving a Larue County woman dead and five others with serious injuries.
On September 12, 2024, Sidebottom entered a guilty plea to the following charges, in addition to other traffic offenses:
Vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol
Three counts of first-degree assault
Two counts of second-degree assault
Possession of marijuana
The investigation was presented to the Green County Grand Jury in September 2023, and they subsequently returned an indictment on Sidebottom, according to the release. The 11th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth Attorney’s Office offered and agreed to a plea agreement for this investigation.
On November 6, 2024, the Green County Circuit Court sentenced Daniel Sidebottom to 13 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the previously mentioned charges.
