A man incarcerated at Louisville Metro Corrections is dead, according to jail officials.
Major Jason Logsdon said officers responded to a 54-year-old unresponsive and in medical distress around 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19. Medical staff and officers began life-saving measures until EMS could arrive and take him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Logsdon said an internal investigation by the Metro Corrections Professional Standard Unit and the Louisville Metro Police Public Integrity Unit was initiated, as is standard procedure.
Officials said mental health services have also been made available to incarcerated individuals impacted by his death.
