
Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision in Taylor County that left one man dead.
According to the press release, post 15 troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on Thursday on KY 70 around 5 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 62-year-old Larry Wicker of Elkhorn was traveling west on KY 70 in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when a deer entered the roadway into his path and Wicker was unable to avoid a collision with the deer.
After colliding with his vehicle, the deer was thrown airborne and collided with a 2002 Freightliner, driven by 75-year-old Rocky Morrison of Edmonton, who was also traveling east on KY 70.
Morrison was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Taylor County Coroner. Wicker was not injured during the collision.
KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor County Fire and EMS, Campbellsville Fire and Rescue, Taylor County Coroner’s Office, and the Kentucky State Highway Department.
The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
