Multiple agencies responded to a structure fire in the 1700 block of Bull Run Road in Adair County early Sunday morning.
According to the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, a caller who did not live at the address reported the fire to dispatchers a little after midnight, saying they were unsure if anyone was inside.
Firefighters responded to the scene to find the two-story home fully engulfed, including one of the three cars in the driveway. They used a defensive attack to keep the fire maintained to the single property rather than spreading rapidly to neighboring homes.
Once the flames were diminished, firefighters learned that two people were unaccounted for. They then entered the home to overhaul the scene where they found the two unaccounted bodies.
While responders were on the scene, one firefighter was injured and transported to TJ Health Columbia for non-life-threatening injuries. A total of 17 firefighters were on scene for five hours.
