A man was arrested after a crash in west Louisville over the weekend that left two people critically injured.
Louisville Metro police said 19 year-old Lorenzo T. Johnson was driving under the influence when he ran a red light and crashed on West Broadway just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The crash happened near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street, where the Russell and California neighborhoods meet.
Johnson is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence, according to an arrest citation.
When LMPD officers got there, they found two cars involved in the crash, one of them had hit a building.
The arrest report stated Johnson admitted to drinking, and a blood test showed his blood alcohol content was 0.147. That is almost twice the legal limit for someone who is 21 years old.
Johnson was booked at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and was arraigned on Monday.
The judge found his bond was accidentally set at $50,000, when it was supposed to be $500,000. Johnson’s legal team argued that he has no criminal history and his family’s financial situation would not allow for them to post his bond.
They asked for a $50,000 bond. The judge agreed to lower Johnson’s bond to $100,000 instead.
He is set to appear back in court on December 3.
