A 16-year-old has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a car and stole a gun earlier this week, according to police.
St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson said the teen was allegedly breaking into a car behind the St. Matthews post office branch in the Shelbyville Road Plaza around 11 a.m. Monday when he was confronted by a postal worker. That is when police said the teen pointed a gun he had taken from the vehicle at the worker.
The teenager was charged with first degree robbery, according to police.
Wilkerson said the gun the teen is accused of stealing has not been recovered. He said a surveillance image from a camera in the area helped police track down the teen, who has not been identified because he is a juvenile.
