
After a two-day trial, 38-year-old Portier Q. Govan has been found guilty on all charges.
According to the release, the Memphis native was found guilty of sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, obstruction or interference with a sex trafficking prosecution or investigation, interstate transportation for purposes of, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
This comes after his co-defendant, 25-year-old Brittany Howard of Bowling Green pleaded guilty on October 30 to interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution and obstruction or interference with a sex trafficking prosecution or investigation.
The charges stem from an incident back in 2022 when Govan and Howard met the victim at a gas station in Bowling Green. They then went to a hotel room where the duo recruited her to engage in sexual acts with the promise of making money.
According to Bowling Green police, officers responded to a disturbance at the Ramada Inn on Scottsville Road. Govan and Howard were arrested and taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.
Govan is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on March 25, 2025. He faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life.
Howard is scheduled for sentencing on March 9, 2025.
