Two Louisville men charged in a deadly October crash that killed a woman and critically injured her husband have now been indicted.
The indictments were returned last week by a Jefferson County Grand Jury against 42 year-old Yusnier Pacheco Bernal and 38 year-old Adam Steele.
The indictments say that around 1 p.m., October 25, 2024, Bernal and Steele were drag racing in the 9100 block of Bardstown Road when the Mustang being driven by Pacheco Bernal crashed into a Toyota Rav4 that was turning onto Bardstown Road from Bardstown Falls Road.
The collision killed a passenger in the Rav4, 77 year-old Myrtle Lorraine Wacker. Her husband and driver of the Rav4, 74 year-old Ronald Wacker was seriously injured.
Pacheco Bernal is charged with murder, assault, six counts of wanton endangerment and a number of traffic charges including racing a motor vehicle on a public highway. In addition to being indicted on the same charges as Pacheco Bernal, the grand jury also charged Steele with tampering with evidence and leaving the scene of an accident without stopping to render aid.
Both men are being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and will be arraigned in Jefferson Circuit Court on January 6, 2025.
