
Six firefighters were injured while battling a structure fire in Nelson County Thursday afternoon.
Chief of Northeast County Fire Ted Shields said the fire broke out in the 300 block of East Main Street in Bloomfield, Kentucky, just before 1 p.m.
Shields said it was the old Henry McKenna Distillery building that had been converted into apartments.
According to Shields, a total of six firefighter were injured. A roof collapsed on five of them while working the fire and the sixth was injured while trying to help the others.
Two of them were mutual aid firefighters. The six firefighters had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, but Shields said they have all since been released.
Two families were displaced by the fire and are being helped by Red Cross.
