A teenager is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash in the Fairdale neighborhood on Saturday, December 28.
Louisville police said officers were on regular patrol near the Jefferson-Bullitt County line when they saw a car that had been reported stolen and had two people inside. They tried to pull the car over, but it took off at a dangerous speed. Officers decided not to pursue the vehicle.
Police said an officer then described seeing sparks about a half mile down the road. Officers then found an overturned car in the 10300 block of National Turnpike. Aid was given to the two victims until EMS could arrive. A teenage boy died before he could be taken to the hospital. The other teen was taken to Norton Children’s where they are expected to survive.
Louisville Metro Police said they believe the car that crashed was the one officers decided not to pursue earlier. They say at this time, they don’t know who the driver of the vehicle was. The Traffic Unit is investigating.
