An employee was taken to a hospital after being shot Tuesday afternoon outside a Family Dollar store, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said police responded at 2:48 p.m. to a shooting at the retail store at 3277 Taylor Blvd. in south Louisville.
Police said a young man, who was an employee, was shot in the back. He was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive.
Police said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Sanders said the alleged suspect was arrested a short time later near Shelby Park, and the victim and suspect know one another. Police have not identified the suspect, who they said is an adult, or said what charges they are facing.
LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating the incident. Police don’t believe it was an attempted robbery and are working to determine a motive.
