Louisville Police believe it is possible a woman who walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound to her shoulder late Tuesday night may have been hit by celebratory gunfire.
The woman showed up at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital on Bluegrass Avenue around 10:25 p.m., according to a news release from the Louisville Metro Police Department. That is where LMPD’s 4th Division officers responded to find the victim, a woman in her late 30s, with a graze wound to her right shoulder from a gunshot.
The woman told investigators she had stepped outside her home in the 3100 block of Northland Drive, near Crums Lane and Cane Run Road, to let her dog out when she heard a loud “bang” before she felt pain in her shoulder.
Anyone with information is asked to call LMPD’s Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s Crime Tip Portal.
