
The mother of the infant child who died after drowning in a south Louisville hotel bathtub on New Year’s Day arrested Wednesday, January 8.
Amber Winstead is being charged with 2nd degree manslaughter in connection to the drowning death.
According to the arrest report, 36 year-old Winstead used drugs prior to getting into the tub with the infant.
Police responded to an EMS run for an infant who had drowned in a bathtub in a hotel on Airport Hotel Blvd. around 4:40 a.m. on January 1.
The arrest report said that Winstead admitted to taking a bath with the infant and was woke up hours later by another person. In that time, the baby submerged in the tub and drown. The report said Winstead admitted to taking drugs sporadically throughout the day.
Winstead is currently being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and will be in court on Thursday, January 9.
