
The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested a 33 year-old man on Thursday in connection to a deadly shooting on December 31 in the Algonquin neighborhood, according to a release.
Officers responded to the shooting just after 4:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of South 13th Street, according to LMPD spokesperson John Bradley.
When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot and was pronounced dead by EMS.
During the investigation, police learned that the victim, Quante Burris, had been in an argument with his girlfriend, according to documents.
The document states the girlfriend contacted several people to get Burris to leave. Robert Handley and several others arrived and confronted Burris before getting into a fight that led to Burris getting shot.
Handley was identified by a witness who gave police a mirandized and recorded statement.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit, Criminal Interdiction Division and members of LMPD SWAT arrested Handley on Thursday and charged him with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
