A woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she intentionally set fires inside an apartment building hallway.
Jennifer L. Ballard, 49, of Louisville, has been charged with one count each of arson and wanton endangerment.
According to the Louisville Metro Arson Bureau, firefighters were called out around 5:40 a.m., January 12, to Avenue Plaza, a Louisville Metro Housing Authority high-rise in the 400 block of S. 8th Street.
An arrest citation says Ballard intentionally set two fires in an interior hallway against the doors of two apartments. It goes on to say that Ballard used a string to tie the doors of the two apartments together.
The fire was discovered by a resident of the building and was extinguished.
Ballard was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections. A not guilty plea was entered for her during arraignment and bond was set at $15,000 cash. If bond is posted, Ballard will be placed into the home incarceration program.
She is scheduled to be back in court on January 21 for a preliminary hearing.
