On Wednesday, January 15, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 11000 block of Falls of Rough Road in Falls of Rough.
According to witnesses, 58-year-old Christopher Tanner, of Falls of Rough, was standing in the southbound lane of KY 79 wearing a reflective safety vest.
Tanner and two other people were trying to get a truck pulling a camper up his icy driveway. Tanner was waving a flashlight facing northbound traffic.
A 2003 Honda Civic driven by 36-year-old Michael Biskup of Falls of Rough was driving southbound and stated that he did not see Tanner standing in the roadway.
Biskup struck Tanner from behind sending him over the hood of the car, into the windshield and then on top of the vehicle bursting out the back glass.
The vehicle then threw Tanner off and onto the roadway in front of the car in the southbound lane.
Tanner was transported to the airport at the State Park and airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital in serious condition.
No charges have been immediately filed; however, toxicology results are pending.
The sheriff deputy was assisted at the scene by the Falls of Rough Volunteer Fire Department and Grayson County EMS.
