
On January 21, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle wreck with possible injury on 18160 Beulah Road in Dawson Springs.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a semi and trailer overturned off the right shoulder of the roadway.
According to the release, the semi was severely damaged from the impact. First responders had to use extraction equipment to retrieve the driver, 63-year-old David Pleasant, from inside the vehicle.
After the investigation of the scene was complete, it was determined that Pleasant was traveling westbound on Beulah Road when he came to a sharp curve to the left.
He was unable to make the left turn and drove off the right shoulder of the roadway.
The semi and trailer overturned losing 22 pieces of mat that were secured by winch straps, per the release. The semi and trailer came to a final rest on the top of the cab.
After the driver of the semi was removed, Coroner Dennis Mayfield arrived on the scene and declared him deceased.
Medical Center Ambulance Service, Charleston Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, and Coroner Dennis Mayfield assisted at the scene.
