A man died in a three-vehicle crash that also left one woman injured Friday evening, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Avenue around 4:30 p.m., according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
Early investigation shows that a man was driving west on River Road when, for an unknown reason, he lost control and hit a commercial vehicle that was turning left onto Frankfort Avenue. Ellis said this crash caused the man to head into oncoming traffic on River Road, hitting the car the woman was driving.
The woman was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive her injuries, according to officials. The man was also taken to UofL Hospital where he died hours later. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
