A 72-year-old woman died in a house fire that broke out early Saturday morning in Edmonson County.
Edmonson County Deputy Coroner Richie Jones confirmed the deceased is Vanessa Thompson.
According to Jones, the two-story house fire in the 1500 block of Brier Creek Road started at 1:05 a.m. He was called to the scene around 2:40 a.m.
Thompson was a resident there along with three other family members who escaped the home and were not injured.
Richie said they are working with the Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause of the fire.
Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene including EMS and the following volunteer fire departments: Kyrock, Brownsville, Barren Creek and Lincoln.
