A man was found dead in a vehicle Sunday morning after Hopkins County Central Dispatch received a call just after 8:30 a.m. about a wrecked car lying in a drainage ditch.
Once crews arrived on scene, they found one person inside, 26-year-old Jacob R. Cummins of Princeton, Kentucky.
An investigation determined that Cummings was traveling south on Highway 814 when he began veering between both sides of the road. His vehicle eventually overturned into a drainage ditch located near the intersection of Cutoff Road and Rabbit Ridge Road.
The Hopkins County Coroner’s Office and other emergency medical services determined Cummings died at the scene.
Multiple agencies were also on scene including the Hopkins and Webster County Sheriff’s Offices, the Providence Police and Fire Departments, the Nebo Volunteer Fire Department and Med Center Ambulance Services.
