
A six-year-old boy is dead and a man has been arrested after an accidental shooting in Radcliff.
Damarco Callen, 26, faces charges of assault, wanton endangerment and unlawfully providing a gun to a minor because of the incident. Radcliff Police said it happened Saturday afternoon at a home on North Street.
According to the arrest citation, Callen kept a gun underneath his pillow at home. He and a woman were staying there with four small children. Callen told police that on Saturday, he had left the bedroom to clean a plate when he heard a gunshot. He went back into the bedroom where he found one of the children, a six-year-old boy, shot in the head.
The boy was taken to the hospital, but died later.
Callen was arrested shortly after police arrived. Radcliff Police said his charges may be upgraded once additional information is made available.
His exact relationship with the child is unknown at this time.
Callen is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center under a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 7.
