
Two students have been charged after a gun was found at Martha Layne Collins High School, according to a post by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office received information that a gun was inside the school Saturday evening. Police said two students took a picture of themselves with a handgun in a school restroom.
The Sheriff’s investigative unit began interviews and executed a search warrant on Monday, finding the gun at a residence, according to the post.
Two students were charged, however, the investigation continues.
Police said there is no known threat to Shelby County Schools or students. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call Captain Lisby at (502) 633-4324.
