Two people have pleaded guilty to charges in the murder and robbery of a man almost four years ago at a Louisville car wash.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Tracy Davis sentenced Kevin Thompson to a total of 36 years in prison for murder and robbery of Kyle Elzy. Dakiesha West was sentenced to five years for for criminal facilitation to murder and robbery and tampering with evidence. Both will serve their terms concurrently.
On August 14, 2021, Thompson shot and killed Kyle Elzy at Triple Crown Car Wash in Lyndon.
Thompson later told police he shot Elzy several times before robbing him. He tried to get away in Elzy’s car, but he couldn’t because it had a manual transmission.
The second suspect, West, was sitting in her car when it all happened. She helped Thompson leave. West told detectives she also helped him get out of Kentucky. Her car was found weeks later abandoned in Alabama.
West also tried to get rid of the clothes worn during the crime. Both Thompson and West pleaded guilty for their roles in Elzy’s murder.
West has spent time on Home Incarceration and Thompson has been in jail. They will receive credit for the time they have already served.
