Four people are facing charges after a drug bust in Pulaski County.
The sheriff’s office says detectives with its narcotics division were conducting surveillance on a residence on Ringgold Road in Somerset in connection with a suspected drug trafficker.
While watching the home, the sheriff’s office says detectives saw 38-year-old Walter Blaine Smith go inside. He had an active indictment for his arrest, so detectives went to the house to arrest him.
The sheriff’s office says the detectives knocked and announced themselves but didn’t get a response, so they forced entry.
Several people were inside the home, but the detectives were initially unable to find Smith. However, the sheriff’s office says they found him in a hidden compartment inside of a closet.
While searching for Smith, the sheriff’s office says detectives saw cash lying on the floor, various drug paraphernalia, two handguns and two bags of suspected fentanyl.
They then got a search warrant for the house and found warrants for other people in the home.
Smith is facing several charges, including drug trafficking charges and a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
