Several fights occurred at Doss High School on Monday, leading to one student being taken to the hospital.
In an email sent to parents, Doss Principal Julie Chancellor said some students fought during lunch. That fight was quickly broken up, but then other groups of students started fighting.
Chancellor said the staff broke up the fights and Jefferson County Public Schools Police were called to the school on St. Andrews Church Road. No students or staff were seriously injured, but one student was taken to the hospital by EMS as a precaution, according to Chancellor.
Many of the students involved in the fights were removed from the building by their parents and guardians as an investigation continues to determine who was involved.
Chancellor said all students who were part of the fights will be disciplined with the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook. She also said this behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at Doss High School.
