Shelbyville police say a woman wanted on drug and child abuse charges is now in custody.
Shatessa Manica, 36, of Shelbyville, was wanted on five warrants including possession of meth, abuse of a child and identity theft. She was thought to be on the run with her infant child.
According to police, Manica has failed to provide medical treatment for her child and failed to attend court. Investigators said she travels between Louisville and Shelbyville.
Chief Bruce Gentry of the Shelbyville Police Department, said Manica was arrested Tuesday (2/04) after she contacted family members and placed the child into their custody. Gentry said the child is safe and in the custody of the state.
Manica is being held in the Shelby County Detention Center without bond.
Manica was thought to be with Antonio Turner, who police said is also known as “Dynamite.” Turner also has active arrest warrants.
