Governor Andy Beshear announced the opening of Kentucky’s second electric vehicle (EV) fast charging station. This station is located at the Circle K in Berea.
According to a press release from the office of Governor Andy Beshear, drivers can enjoy free charging at the new location via the Circle K charge app until Friday, February 14.
The Berea location opened as a component of the statewide EV charging program. The purpose of this program is to expand the amount of EV chargers across the state.
Beshear said opening this station demonstrates the importance of building our reliable statewide network.
To use this free service, users must download the Circle K app then search for the Berea location. Customers then will select the charger and port, and connect the charging cable to the car. To finish, customers then will swipe the app to initiate the charge.
The press release said the Berea site has 4 ABB E-Mobility 180-kilowatt fast chargers. Charging your EV vehicle on average should take about 20 minutes.
The Berea site was approved in October 2023 and received more than $537,000 through the EV Charging Program for the project.
Construction for this charging station was completed early this year.
