A Louisville man will spend months in jail after pointing a laser at the Louisville Metro Police Department helicopter while it was in the air.
Justin Freeman, 33, aimed the laser pointer at the helicopter in September 2023. Prosecutors say it could have blinded the pilot and caused a crash.
Freeman will spend three months in jail and three months on home incarceration.
Data from the Federal Aviation Administration shows pilots in Kentucky reported 200 incidents of lasers being pointed at an aircraft in 2024.
