Kentucky’s former attorney general has announced that he is running for the seat being vacated by Mitch McConnell.
The announcement by 39 year-old Daniel Cameron came shortly after McConnell made his decision public on his 83rd birthday, speaking to his collogues from the Senate floor.
McConnell said he plans to serve out his term, which ends in January 2027.
Another Kentucky politician may be a candidate for McConnell’s seat. In a statement, Kentucky current 6th Congressional Representative, 51 year-old Andy Barr restated that he is thinking about making a run for the Senate and will make his decision soon.
