A 23-year-old man has been arrested for an Ohio County elderly woman’s murder.
Aaron Hunter Crowe has been charged with the murder of 81-year-old Norma June Greenwell.
Greenwell’s body was first discovered on February 5 on Nineteen School Road in Beaver Dam by family members after they could not get in touch with her.
Authorities estimated that Greenwell had been dead between 32-48 hours before her discovery.
Crowe was arrested on February 6 at neighboring home on unrelated charges but was not a suspect in the murder at that time, according to Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright.
Evidence continued to mount against Crowe once K-9 units were brought in, who led Ohio County Sheriff’s Office to discovering a machete in his backyard pond, which is believed to be the murder weapon.
Wright went on to thank the multiple agencies that helped in the investigation, including Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Owensboro Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Henderson Fire Department Dive Team.
Crowe has been charged with murder, 1st degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence and persistent felony offender. He is currently being held in the Ohio County Detention Center on a $1 million bond, and is due in court February 27.
