A Louisville Metro Police officer suffered serious injuries after a stolen pickup truck crashed into his vehicle Thursday afternoon.
Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson LMPD, said officers responded to a crash near the intersection of West Hill Street and McCloskey Avenue just before 2 p.m.
Police said an on-duty officer in an unmarked vehicle was patrolling a designated Sustained Focus Improvement area. He was heading east on Hill Street and entered the intersection when he was hit by a pickup truck traveling south on McCloskey Avenue that disregarded a traffic control device.
The truck crashed into the officer’s driver side and caused severe damage to both vehicles.
The officer was taken to UofL Hospital with serious injuries but not considered to be life-threatening. The driver was also taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the pickup truck was stolen and the driver of the truck has been arrested.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
