Louisville Metro Police arrested a man Sunday night after he assaulted a police officer at a Walmart on Dixie Highway.
According to an arrest report, 22 year-old Kurtis Smith was shoplifting when he was stopped by a Lyndon Police officer and two Walmart security guards.
Smith hit the officer’s arm when she tried to handcuff him, then sprayed spray paint into her eyes and mouth, and hit her several times in the head and face.
He was later arrested by a responding Louisville Metro Police officer after he fled the scene across Dixie Highway and lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, according to the citation.
Smith is facing charges of assault of a police officer, wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing police, and robbery. He pleaded not guilty in court Monday, and a judge set a $50,000 bond.
