The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team was requested by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on March 11, at approximately 11:50 a.m. CT.
The preliminary investigation indicates Kentucky State Police troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the 42-mile marker of I-24 eastbound when the vehicle fled. The pursuit continued into Trigg County where Trigg County Sheriff deputies joined in.
The suspect vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision near the 65-mile marker. The suspect exited his vehicle and fled from law enforcement on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect began shooting at law enforcement, striking one deputy. Three deputies with Trigg County Sheriff’s Office fired their agency-issued firearm, striking the individual.
The suspect, identified as 21 year-old Jermaine Terrell Jackson Jr. of Florissant, Missouri, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
One deputy sustained injuries and was transported to a medical facility, where he is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
