A man died after being shot in Middletown on Wednesday morning.
The Middletown Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to reports of gunfire and a person lying on the ground at 7:30 a.m. on Winter Springs Court.
Police said the victim was initially taken to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
Officers also found a “suspicious package” on the scene, and Louisville Metro Police Department’s bomb unit rendered the package safe.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public, but officers located a Chevrolet Box truck Wednesday afternoon that they believed may be connected to the case. Louisville Metro Police said the person driving the truck was considered a person of interest and the truck may contain an “explosive device.”
Still, no charges have been filed in the case.
