A Louisville man is accused of intentionally starting a fire at his grandmother’s home in Jeffersontown early Thursday morning.
It happened just before 1 a.m. in the 8700 block of Four Oaks Court off of Stony Brook Drive near Watterson Trail.
Derrick Moore, 26, admitted on video he used gasoline and a lighter to set the fire after he was advised of his Miranda rights, according to court records.
Police said Moore told them he knew his grandmother and uncle were in the house when he started the fire. They were both taken to UofL Hospital for treatment, where they were listed in stable condition.
Officers from Louisville’s arson bureau arrested Moore around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. He is charged with one count of arson and two counts of wanton endangerment.
The judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf during his arraignment Friday morning, and raised his bond from $50,000 to $500,000.
Moore’s next court date is scheduled for March 24.
