
Three men were arrested after fleeing the scene of a shooting that left two homes with bullet holes.
On Monday night, Owensboro police patrol officers responded to the 1200 block of E. 5th Street when multiple shots were reported shortly after midnight.
A description of the suspects and the vehicle they were seen leaving in was given to responding officers.
Owensboro Police said the patrol officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle within minutes of the shooting and only a few blocks away from the incident scene.
Three people matching the description were taken into custody.
Officers found two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun inside the vehicle. According to the release, evidence collected at the scene was consistent with the firearms that were seized from the vehicle.
The two homes struck by gunfire were occupied but no injuries were reported.
The three men were transported to the Owensboro Police Department where detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division interviewed the suspects. All three men were subsequently arrested and charged with felonies.
Winston Smith, age 30 of Owensboro, was charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree; Discharge of Firearm (2 Counts); and Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon.
Nickolas Rogers, age 26 of Owensboro, was charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Discharge of Firearm (2 Counts).
Trace Dowell, age 20 of Owensboro, was charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree; Discharge of Firearm (2 Counts); Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon and Using Restricted Ammo During Felony (Shot Fired, No Injury).
The investigation is still ongoing by detectives and additional charges may be pending.
