A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin a cable maintenance project on the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge next week.
The project will result in lane restrictions at the Ohio River crossing for the next year.
Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 24, the northbound side of the Natcher Bridge will be restricted to one northbound lane.
Southbound traffic will then be transitioned to the left lane of the northbound side of the bridge. This restriction will be in place from the 13.5 to 14.8 mile points.
That lane configuration is anticipated to last for around six months, with both lanes shifting to the southbound side of the bridge in late summer or early fall. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by March 2026.
The William H. Natcher Bridge opened in 2002. It links eastern Daviess County in Kentucky to southern Spencer County in Indiana. Around 8,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily.
