A Louisville man was arrested Friday after allegedly hiring a woman to clean his home and then raping her.
According to an arrest citation, 73 year-old Richard Conkin hired a woman based on an ad he saw on the app NextDoor. The victim allegedly was requesting babysitting or cleaning jobs.
Once the victim went to Conkin’s residence, police say he asked her to clean the home. While she was cleaning a bedroom in the home, Conkin allegedly pushed the victim on the bed and raped her.
He allegedly told her not to scream or else it would be worse.
Conkin then allegedly offered the woman $20 to not say anything. She went to the hospital and had bruising on her wrists and cuts to her knuckles.
Conkin was arrested later that same day and charged with first degree rape.
Conkin was given a $250,000 bond, but according to court records, he posted that on Monday. Conkin should be back in court on March 31.
