
Louisville Metro Police has arrested a man in connection to a killing of man police say was hit by a car while hanging out of the window of another car two months ago.
The crash happened in South Louisville just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 23. John Bradley, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said a man was hanging on the outside of a car when the driver of that car intentionally swerved into a second vehicle. When officers along with the Louisville Fire Department responded to the call at the intersection of 4th Street and Winkler Avenue, they found the man dead.
The Jefferson County Coroner later identified the man as 34-year-old Michael Orchard.
On Thursday, March 27, Louisville Metro Police Department said it has arrested 33-year-old Desean Neal in connection to Orchard’s death. Police believes him to be the driver of the vehicle that Orchard was hanging out of.
Neal is being charged with murder, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, theft, escape and tampering with a prisoner monitoring device.
At the time of the arrest, Neal was being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
Shortly after Orchard’s death, Louisville Metro Police Department said the driver of the car he was hanging onto fled from the scene and was found near the intersection of 7th Street and Algonquin and was being detained. However, it was determined that man was not involved in the incident.
