
The man accused of killing a person in Louisville, then stealing his car and crashing it in Florida is now back in the Commonwealth to face his charges.
Liobys Caro-Mena is charged with murder, auto theft, and tampering with evidence in Jefferson County. He is facing additional charges in Florida for a police chase and crash that injured multiple people.
Alain Garcia Perez was found dead in the Iroquois neighborhood on February 23, 2024, with his car missing. A day later, the car was found near Miami, Florida. Police identified Caro-Mena as a person of interest, who was arrested that Monday after a police chase.
Caro-Mena was sent back to Louisville and faced a judge for arraignment on Friday. A judge appointed a public defender and gave him a $500,000 cash bond.
He will be back in court on April 7.
